Dinner with the Angels
/
Last week, Gastrology attended Dinner with the Angels – A Gastronomique Affair, held by Victorian based charity Anglicare Victoria to coincide with National Foster Care Week and raise funds for Victorian children living in foster care.
This premier culinary event which is a staple on Melbourne’s food and wine calendar continued to attract Victoria’s top chefs from hatted restaurants and includes signature dishes, fine wine and entertainment.
We were fortunate enough to be seated at a table catered by Tonka where chef extraordinaire Adam D'Sylva amazed with delightful Modern Indian cuisine. We loved each of the courses Adam presented us with which celebrated the vibrancy of Indian flavours. To start the Tuna tartare, rice pappadum, pomegranate, ginger and fresh wasabi was a wonderfully fresh and bold combination of flavours. The mains were hearty and full of flavour and included a luxurious duck korma served with apple and vanilla spiced beetroot. Just Yum!
It was great to hear more about Anglicare and its life changing work. Victoria’s largest foster care provider, Anglicare Victoria currently houses over 400 children per night. The placements and support services give stability and a sense of hope to children unable to live with their natural families. Last year Anglicare Victoria helped 5,500 families, enabling them to achieve many of their personal goals, including parents learning new skills and developing positive relationships with their children. With over 100 programs delivered to the community through 32 locations, Anglicare Victoria aims to resource and empower children, young people and families to achieve their full potential. Their work is based on three guiding pillars, Prevent, Protect, and Empower.
The charity auctions added some fun and excitement to the night whilst raising some much needed funds.
Dinner with the Angels is a special event where Victorian chefs unite for Victorian children. It was a memorable night for people who love food, wine and want to support the State’s most vulnerable children.
Anglicare Victoria focuses on transforming the futures of children and young people, families and adults.
