An Enchanted Spring Evening @ Oakridge

Oakridge Wines and Creative Universe recently presented “An Enchanted Spring Evening” featuring sensational Australian group Pot-Pourri.

An Enchanted Spring Evening featured the best of musical theatre and Broadway including hits from Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, South Pacific, Chicago, Westside Story, My Fair Lady, Man of La Mancha, songs by artists Leonard Cohen, Sting, Josh Groban and many more.

Pot-Pourri, voted Australian Event Entertainers of the year, features stunning sopranos Tania de Jong AM and Rebecca Bode plus tenor Jon Bode and baritone Jonathan Morton. Just having returned from international success in Asia, New Zealand and Europe, this talented ensemble captivated guests throughout the evening.

Oakridge Winery was the perfect backdrop to enjoy the talented performances. The dining area is spacious, modern and elegant, exuding an air of calm. The glass windows encasing the dining area allow the sun to trickle in and present magical views out to the vineyard.

The sense of true hospitality is palpable, echoed in the modern Australian menu prepared using high quality, fresh ingredients which are often locally sourced. 

New York strip loin, asparagus, oyster mushroom, beef fat

The dish of Angus beef back steak was simple, delicious and well executed. The beef was cooked to a tender and juicy pink and was flavoursome. 

Yabbie, pea, saffron, brown rice risotto

The brown rice risotto was well executed.  The rice in the risotto was puffy and al-dente and, coupled with generous amounts of tender yabbie pieces boasted a wonderful depth of flavour. The 2013 Oakridge LVS Chardonnay (Trophy & Gold Medal Winner at the recent Royal Melbourne Wine Awards 2015), was the perfect match with its lively citrus acidity and minerality harmonising with the faint honey flavours of the yabbie and saffron. 

The Big Apple, Doughnuts

Our evening concluded on a sweet note with a tangy green apple sorbet, caramelised apples and a lovely golden doughnut.

Combining opera by one of Australia’s leading acts, Pot-Pourri alongside a menu celebrating the fresh flavours of spring by Head Chef Matt Stone and matched with Oakridge award winning wines, “An Enchanted Spring Evening” was certainly a magical night.
