The Colonel's Son is a beautiful cafe with stunning bay views located in the heart of Black Rock.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch recently and were thoroughly impressed by their beetroot cured Huon Salmon dish. Think wonderfully crispy skin and melt in your mouth salmon with an addictive underlying salinity from being cured. The beetroot curing also made the Huon Salmon boast a vibrant red colour. Together with purple potatoes, mixed beans, du puy lentils, quinoa, chickpeas, almonds, tomato salsa and herbed remoulade and finished with poached egg encasing dripping yolk, this was a beautiful and nutrient dense dish.
