Club Wyndham Ballarat

Club Wyndham Ballarat offers Club Wyndham South Pacific members and resort guests a truly unique stay. Built in 1878, Club Wyndham Ballarat is a heritage listed Victorian era property, known historically as Blythwood Grange. The grand mansion was built by James Leckie, who arrived in the goldfields of Ballarat with his family three days after the Eureka Uprising in December 1854. The heritage of the property and its buildings have been maintained with great affection over its years as a Club Wyndham property.

Today, the resort features 55-acres of manicured lawns, gorgeous gardens, and a sparkling lake ideal for fishing and boating. The accommodation, which ranges from studios through to 1, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments and deluxe apartments is stylish and well-appointed.

Two Bedroom Deluxe Apartment

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the resort’s stunning two bedroom deluxe apartment. The apartment is wonderfully generous in size and boasts a separate living room, two bedrooms, bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen that makes it ideal for travelling families. Communal laundry facilities are also available for guests.

History Tour of the Resort

The passionate team at Club Wyndham Ballarat bring the history of Ballarat’s Victorian era to life at the resort, with fascinating history tours hosted by staff. The tour even includes a penny-farthing bicycle demonstration! We loved joining the incredibly interactive tour which gave us the chance to step back in time, while learning about the property and Ballarat’s unique history. It certainly makes staying at Club Wyndham Ballarat a memorable holiday.

Facilities

The interactive history tour is just one of the many free activities offered at the resort. The resort also offers the chance to sift for gold and gems at the onsite gold sluice. Also, available are free bicycles and e-bikes, as well as canoes, pedal boats and fishing gear for exploring the lake. The resort also boasts (amongst other things) an indoor heated pool, a spa, gym, tennis courts, a giant chess set, and a historic chapel, which also serves as an onsite museum. We highly recommend making use of the available bicycles to explore the hotel’s sprawling grounds as well as enjoying the available paddle boats to explore the beautiful tree-lined lake which is simply ideal for fishing and boating.

Things to see and do around Ballarat

Famous for its gold rush heritage, Ballarat is home to many historical attractions such as Sovereign Hill and The Eureka Centre. A great place to start sightseeing in Ballarat is taking a stroll along the shore of Lake Wendouree, exploring the museums and galleries, or uncovering Ballarat’s past on foot by following the Heritage Walking Trails.
