Empire Jerky | Recipe: Habanero Jerky and Spinach Pasta

Empire Jerky comes in three flavours:

  • Original jerky - A new take on an old classic; native smoked peppercorns with a hint of garlic for a smokey barbeque sensation. Original ingredients: Grass fed beef, garlic, smoked peppercorn, gluten-free soy sauce, cooroy springwater, apple cider vinegar.

  • Habanero - An addictive combination of heat and flavour. Perfectly balanced heat from red and orange habanero's while harnessing their fruity flavour. Habanero ingredients: Grass fed beef, garlic, red & orange habanero chillis, gluten-free soy sauce, cooroy springwater, apple cider vinegar.

  • Jalapeno & Lime - A little sweet, a little spicy, full of flavour. Light heat with zesty lime for a refreshing taste sensation with zing. Jalapeno & Lime ingredients: Rump beef, garlic, jalapeno chillis, gluten-free soy sauce, cold-pressed lime juice, cooroy springwater.

Recipe: Habanero Jerky and Spinach Pasta

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon EVOO

  • 1/2 cup julienned Empire Jerky Habanero

  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced garlic

  • 1 sliced chilli

  • 1/8 cup chopped cherry tomatoes

  • 2 cups cooked spaghetti

  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach

  • Parmesan cheese

  • Fresh basil

  • Zest of 1 lemon

METHOD

  1. Heat oil in large pan until hot. Add Empire Jerky Habanero, chilli and garlic. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until jerky is tender.

  2. Add cherry tomatoes and cook until slightly soft.

  3. Add pasta to pan; cook until heated through.

  4. Remove pan from heat; add spinach. Toss mixture until spinach is slightly wilted. Garnish with Parmesan, lemon zest and basil, as desired.
