Grand Lafayette is slinging sake flights for $30 this winter

Beat the winter blues and warm your soul through and through with Grand Lafayette's sensory-stimulating sake flight this winter!

For the hot price of $28 per flight, guests are invited to sip on a luxe variety of four, well- balanced, rare and aromatic Japanese sake options from the Grand Lafayette collection, including the opportunity to sample a highly-prized rare sake.

And the second is $18 with the exclusion of the rare sake.

For first-time sake sippers, Grand Lafayette is sure to ignite a new love for the famed fermented rice, leaving tastebuds tingling and a soul-warming feeling perfect for neutralising Melbourne’s frosty air. Sake is a standout in the liquor world because it can be served at a wide range of temperatures from chilled or room temperature to warm or hot. Matching the temperature of the sake to the dish of choice at Grand Lafayette can further enhance the umami flavour profile of traditional Japanese meals.

Sake tasting flight inclusions: Including a rare bottle of the highest grade of sake - Junmai Daiginjo

Junmai Daiginjo: An extremely rare sake made from Kikusui rice, a strain of rice that was almost extinct and revived from just 25 grains. This sake has a crisp and sophisticated flavour profile, paired perfectly with the Agedashi Tofu. As it cuts through the sticky sweetness of the dish, experience that abundant umami flavour Grand Lafayette is renowned for.

Shiroi Litchi: A milk-based sake with exuberant notes of lychee. Experience a unique body feeling, distinctive taste and fruit flavour that lingers. Why not pair it with Grand Lafayette’s cosy winter menu options and fan-favourite Grand Lafayette’s chicken katsu curry. Crispy, golden chicken coated in a silky, caramelised curry sauce served on a bed of fluffy rice. It’s a textured dream that’ll leave your tastebuds singing.

Kunizakari Yuzushu: A fruity Sake with 100% Japanese Yuzu, a combination of divine sake accentuated with citrus. Kunizakari Yuzushu is a mouth-watering, fresh sake that is primarily sweet and sour and is best served chilled. Enjoy the acidic notes of this sake paired with the contrasting rich flavour profiles of katsu curry or hearty miso soup.

Sayuri Creamy Sweet: Tempt and delight senses with this playful, unfiltered brew of sake. Take in the flavour profiles of sweet strawberry, rich in creamy texture and taste. This sake is unmatched! Best paired with a warm winter noodle soup such as the ‘Vegetarian Yakiudon’ with contrasting notes of savoury and sweet combining the umami taste of the mushrooms with the sweetness of the sake.

For the entirety of July and August, join Grand Lafayette in avoiding the icy Melbourne wind and enjoy their warming process this winter. With so much on offer and something for everyone, winter never felt (or tasted!) so good.
