Miss Kasumi

With a unique menu that features contemporary sushi alongside traditional Japanese dishes, and stunning ambience, Miss Kasumi offers a memorable dining experience.

Located along Kew’s High Street, this slick eatery is  dedicated first and foremost to the art of Japanese eating and drinking, offering a very zen environment for catching up with friends and family with a focus on quality food.

Accompanying the wide range of cocktails, wine, beer and sake list, is a smorgasbord of Japanese eats comprising of tempura, sushi, sashimi and the like.

We loved being taken on a culinary journey with the Kasumi Indulgence degustation. Each course was an absolute delight. It was clear that great care had been taken in its preparation.

To start, the Angus beef tataki was a winner. The contrasting textures defined this dish - perfectly rare, tender slices of beef were served warm and seasoned with Ponzu and Garlic Chips.

To follow Kasumi’s Chawan Mushi pleased with its melt in your mouth creamy texture. Simply simplicity and perfection at its best.

As expected of any good Japanese restaurant, the sushi and sashimi at Miss Kasumi is wonderful.. The nigiri sushi and sashimi boasted a tenderness exhibited by high quality produce. The torched salmon belly nigiri was our favourite - this melt in your mouth nigiri combined the best of both worlds (partially cooked, partially raw).

A tempura platter graced us next. A commendable modern rendition of a traditional Japanese dish, the batter was ethereally light and crispy. The seafood which sat within the batter was fresh and most memorable. We loved the selection of sauces and in particular the tangy ponzu sauce which was the perfect accompaniment to cut through the rich oiliness of the tempura pieces.

For mains the wagyu steak was perfection - Tender and delicious, with caramel undertones. The accompanying mushroom miso sauce took the dish to new heights. It was a stunning dish.

Our dinner ended on a sweet note with Miss Kasumi's lovely dessert platter. An assortment of Japanese inspired desserts, each item was delicious, an exemplary display of Miss Kasumi's versatility.

Miss Kasumi has only been open for four months and already has a band of loyal followers  - and it is easy to understand why.  Unblemished execution of Japanese food in light of its bodacious atmosphere, desirable beverage selection and overall dining experience, Miss Kasumi has certainly earned our stamp of approval.
