One Plus Piece

Located in leafy Balwyn, One Plus Piece is a Japanese anime themed cafe. Possessing a familial charm, the café boasts a contemporary fit out and warm service. Apart from serving excellent coffee, the beverage list is on trend and also serves matcha lattes and healthy smoothies.

To coincide with the coming warmer weather and good times, One Plus Piece café have also just announced the arrival of their freak shake cocktails and liquor licence.

To join their menu, One Plus Piece has brought an array of craft beers and ciders like the Moo Brew Pilsner, Mismatch Brewing Co Session Ale, the Lychee Gold Cider Premium, but the stand out coming to the menu is their alcoholic freak shakes.

From the Green Samurai, a matcha flavoured milkshake spiked with crème de menthe and vodka and the Cookie Monster which is an Oreo and milo flavoured milkshake paired with Irish cream and vanilla vodka to the XXXsmoke, which is chocolate and strawberry milkshake spiked with bourbon, topped with marshmallow, chocolate cake and rainbow popcorn. Unlike the others, when it arrives at your table, the bourbon is poured into a chocolate egg shell and the theatrics begin. The shell is lit on fire, turning the topping into an oozing river of chocolate and bourbon.

On the food side of things, the latest menu features both delicious and interesting brunch options. We loved the green monster – think beautifully fresh slices of salmon sashimi accompanied by pumpkin puree, brocolini, kale, asparagus, pomegranate, sweet corn, roasted almonds, feta and topped with a poached egg encasing oozy yolk.

Another show stopper was the Duck Benedict with house-made waffle, topped with melt in your mouth slow cooked free range duck, poached eggs, spicy hollandaise sauce, apple and bacon crumble. Just yum!

One Plus Piece has succeeded in crafting a convivial atmosphere in which to enjoy a lazy brunch. The menu is delicious and caters for all kinds of appetites while the staff are friendly and affable.
