Located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, Collins Coffee House is a family operated business that pride themselves on high quality and service of their products. The cafe is housed within a gorgeous historical building still with its original decor, creating the perfect tea room. High Tea is served in ornate traditional China and all items on the high tea menu are handcrafted and baked fresh daily using fresh and local ingredients when available.
British pastry chef and owner Laura loves high tea and making mini cakes. During the covid-19 lock down Collins Coffee House was forced to close their doors due to Melbourne’s restrictions. This was only after a few months after the grand opening. During the unfortunate lockdown period,Laura continued to pursue her dream and immense love of high tea and offered a special Mother’s Day high tea in 2020. The feedback she received was overwhelming - amazing positive feedback and anunexpected high volume of orders came from customers requesting more high tea deliveries. With the support of her family the high tea in box delivery service started.
Once Collins Coffee House were able to reopen their doors, they welcomed customers to dine in to experience the ultimate high tea Melbourne had to offer.
We absolutely loved the amazing selection. Savoury items included roasted butternut pumpkin and sage tart, caramelised onion and Yarra valley Persian feta quiche, ricotta and baby spinach filo pastry pie as well as free range chicken waldorf ribbon sandwiches.
Sweet items featured a great selection of individually hand made pastries. Think flourless orange and almond cake, spiced carrot cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting, organic raspberry and coconut cake and Italian ricciarelli almond biscuits with amarena fabbri cherry.
As expected of any good high tea, there were of course some gorgeous scones to enjoy. We loved Collins Coffee House’s crumbly freshly baked scones - perfect to top with Yarra Valley pure cream and raspberry preserve.
