Earthbound Bolton

Gastrology visited Earthbound Bolton on behalf of the Australian Good Food Guide.

Nestled in leafy Eltham, Earthbound Bolton is a gorgeous café that pleases with an ethos of sustainability, loving the environment and using seasonal organic produce sourced locally.

The café is the brainchild of owner and chef Luke McGregor-Allen who is a hospitality industry veteran. This latest venture of his is all about giving back to the community that has supported his career for many years. Everything is made in house where possible and various charities and local artists are supported through the cafe. The delicious coffee, poured by adept baristas is no exception - organic, Fairtrade and sustainable, the café uses the Wild Timor coffee blend which provides support to developing communities in Timor-Leste.

We loved tasting our way through the menu which showcases predominantly vegan and vegetarian options, along with many gluten free options.

The vegan brunch beets was a stunning dish. Vibrant beetroot hummus, thyme roasted mushrooms, house made garlic and rosemary marinated vegan feta, dukkah and snow pea tendrils sat atop crusty sourdough. We loved the beautiful flavours which tasted wholesome and was clearly carefully prepared.

For health fiends, the soul bowl is a must. A nutrient dense amalgamation of lime dressed avocado, cucumber, spring onion, maple pumpkin, ancient grains, coriander chilli and cord topped with poached egg encasing dripping yolk and dukkah.

If you have a sweet tooth, Earthbound Bolton have a cabinet filled with an array of treats. Whatever you do, make sure you try the pretzel caramel slice – you can thank us later.

Embracing a menu that welcomes all, Earthbound Bolton is simply a lovely place to enjoy brunch.
