The space formerly occupied by De Clieu cafe has received a complete makeover. New owner Andrew Skoullos has created a stunning space inspired by European espresso bars in the ’50s. The result is Gabriel – a chic and welcoming café that is perfect for lazing away the weekend.
The menu is simple yet simply beautiful. An absolute winner is their interpretation of the humble smashed avo - Avocado tossed in dukkah with snow pea tendrils, feta, lemon and pickled radish and black salt all atop crusty multigrain. Just yum!
Another top pick of ours is the saganaki dish. If you’re looking low cab and high in protein then look no further. Plus it’s a whole lot of yum. Seriously generous slabs of crispy saganaki are topped with poached eggs encasing dripping yolk, smoked salmon, avocado, kasundi, dukkah and a sprinkling of rocket leaves. It’s a real crowd pleaser.
