When staying at Campbell House, dining on Italian specialties at IL Bacaro is a must. The restaurant encapsulates the Italian style of dining, urging patrons to "Mangia! Mangia!" in an intimate gathering while cherishing a meal which honours classical Italian flavours and quality ingredients.
To start the rocket salad is an absolute must-have. An enticing mix of melt-in-your-mouth gorgonzola cheese, green apple, buffalo mozzarella, sundried cherry tomatoes finished with crunchy almonds. Simply yum!
As expected of any good Italian restaurant, Il Bacaro is particularly good at producing quality pasta dishes. The beetroot pasta dish with guanciale and buffalo mozzarella sauce that we had was no exception - boasting complex and rich flavours.
For mains, the Acqua Pazza was stunning. Meaning ‘crazy water’, this dish originated from fishermen of the Neapolitan area, who would sauté their catch of the day in seawater together with tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil.
Il Bacaro's version of Acqua Pazza lived up to its picturesque presentation with each element of the dish perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious – the seafood tasted fresh and the light, fragrant broth had a lovely depth of flavour.
To finish, the delightful Tiramisu was the perfect end.
