Eclectic Tastes
/
Tucked into Ballarat’s vibrant café scene, Eclectic Tastes is a welcoming spot to slow down over a leisurely brunch, excellent coffee and thoughtfully prepared dishes. With its relaxed atmosphere and appealing menu, it makes an ideal stop for refuelling during a day exploring the historic gold rush city.
We settled in for brunch, starting with the Mushrooms Bruschetta, a generous combination of sautéed mushrooms, whipped feta, hazelnuts, spinach and a perfectly poached egg, served atop sourdough. Earthy mushrooms and creamy feta provided plenty of flavour, while the hazelnuts added a lovely crunch and the egg brought everything together.
The Salmon & Potato Rösti was another standout, pairing smoked salmon with crispy potato rösti, fromage frais, caperberries, pickled shallot and a fresh herb salad. The combination struck a pleasing balance between richness and brightness, with the tangy accompaniments cutting through the smoked salmon beautifully.
Of course, no brunch is complete without a good coffee, and Eclectic Tastes delivered on that front, too. Excellent coffee made it all the more tempting to linger a little longer rather than rush off to the next stop on our Ballarat itinerary.
For visitors looking for a relaxed café experience that combines quality coffee with satisfying brunch favourites, Eclectic Tastes is well worth adding to the list.
