Throughout the next three months, South East Asian eatery, Rice Paper Sister, will be hosting a banquet feast featuring the flavours of Vietnam , the Philippines and Thailand.
Gatrology were fortunate to be invited to the first of the three events featuring an 8 course Vietnamese feast with 8 matching beverages. Starting off with light dishes such as pickled cucumber, moreton bay bug dumplings with chilli sauce and swimmer crab spring roll, the feast commenced with tasty Vietnamese flavours.
An absolute highlight was the fresh salmon sashimi salad on crispy wonton which was full of flavour with the crunch of the wonton providing the complementary texture. The dish was also wonderfully matched with a light yuzu lychee vodka cocktail that balanced with the salad perfectly.
Up next were the main dishes which included the very tender and delicate whitecut chicken in broth, eight treaure duck with lapcheong sauce, crispy roast suckling pig with a chinese mustard. The mustard provided a sharpness to the dish and complemented the juicy pork wonderfully.
To finish off the 8 course banquet , we enjoyed a light super fresh pandan yuzu cucumber granita served on top of coconut icecream. This dessert wa paired with a rum infused sherry which was the perfect way to finish off a meal.
The remaining events in March and April are :
March 18 - Sugbahan BBQ (Filipino feast)
April 15 - Songkran (Thai banquet)
To enjoy a delectable feast (or food coma!) with 8 special dishes and 8 matching drinks all for $88, you can purchase tickets from the Rice Paper Sister Website.
Rice Paper Sister is located at 15 Hardware Lane , Melbourne.
