Meatworksco

The term smokehouse is the perfect description of Meatworksco. Using their 450kg in house smoker Betsy to create flavour infused, succulent lunch and brunch dishes, the South Melbourne eatery has just launched their dinner menu.

The flavours on the menu are inspired by smoking methods used in Asian, European, Middle Eastern and Northern American cuisines, making their dinner offering substantial and moreish.

To start we absolutely loved  the Char-Grilled Baby Octopus Tossed in Olive Oil, Garlic, Chili & Coriander. The octopus was incredibly tender while retaining a robust structure courtesy of being expertly cooked. The Mancheggo Cheese was another winner. Absolutely moreish, the addition of truffled honey was a masterstroke.

For mains do not go past the roasted pork ribs -  char grilled to maximise flavour and finished with a plum sauce. We opted for the full rack which went beautifully with a side dish of wok tossed Asian greens with hoisin sauce.

The dessert menu ensured our evening concluded on a sweet note. The Goldilocks was both delightful and interesting and is something you will struggle to find anywhere else. Think smoked apple crumble served with double cream that simply melts in your mouth.

With a menu that has something to please everyone that encompasses beautiful smokey flavours with just the right amount of balance, look no further than Meatworksco in South Melbourne. Just look for the Meatworksco bull on the roof.
