The menu is grounded in strong Italian heritage and focuses on perfection in simplicity. The result is honest food with loads of flavour.
Cocktails and wines are also a clear focus with the bar serving up a range of delicious elixirs to match the beautiful cuisine.
To start we loved the fried eggplant. Perfectly battered, crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside slices of eggplant, were served with fresh spring onions, broad beans and finished with luxurious feta.
The Petto di manzo (beef brisket) was similarly delicious. We loved the tender beef brisket which had benefited from being slow cooked for 48 hours which sat atop crusty rosemary salted sourdough.
For mains the Spaghettini pescatore was an absolute highlight, featuring perfectly cooked seafood including Moreton Bay bugs, clams, crab, Spring Bay mussels, scampi, scallops. It was a faultless dish perfect for seafood lovers.
If you are after something heartier, the Cape Grimm Rib Eye will leave you incredibly satisfied. It’s one of the chef’s favourites and it is easy to understand why. Cooked to perfection, the beef was well seasoned and retained a juicy, tender consistency throughout. It was a true testament to the quality of the meet sourced. The rosemary and garlic potatoes, field mushroom and luscious steak sauce were perfect accompaniments.
Dessert time at Osteria 20 continued to please. We recommend their rendition of the Tiramisu - well made, with its flavour heavily dominated by a gratifying chocolate component.
