The Richmond Yard

For a limited summer season, The Richmond Yard – Post Apocalyptic Trailer Park Bar and Grill sets the stage for Australia’s first truly immersive food and beverage pop-up.

The scene is set in 2023, in a world damaged by the scourge of conflict, and now experiencing a mass divide between the elite and the lower classes. In Melbourne, life goes on with the everyday person fighting to survive in a post-apocalyptic era. Makeshift communities have infiltrated the city boundaries…

Welcome to The Richmond Yard – a meeting place, watering hole, trading circuit and trailer park. Home base to urban renegades and underground resistors.

The Richmond Yard arrives every Saturday from 5 December 2015 – 20 February 2016 featuring the best of Melbourne’s pop-up food, indie craft beverage, and with Melbourne’s most prolific DJs setting the soundscape.

On the evening of our visit, the food pop-ups on offer were Uncle Jungs and Burn City Smokers.

We enjoyed the delicious offerings within our own private trailer - which you can reserve for 2 hours and includes wait service and $200 food and bar tab.

Uncle Jung's stole our heart with its wonderful Mexican/Korean tacos and mind-blowing fried chicken. The spicy pork taco was our favourite taco. A unique representation of Korean-Mexican fusion in Melbourne, the Korean tacos were a whole lot of yum. Heady ginger and Gochujang add a nice kick to the tender pork encased in warm tortilla.

An absolute showstopper was the Uncle Fried Chicken. The meaty boneless fried chicken morsels were each crusted with a flavoursome spice mix and then perfectly fried to achieve a moreish crunchy exterior.  AMAZING.

Also on offer was pulled pork buns from Burn City Smokers. It was an almighty burger with generous amounts of tender and flavoursome pulled pork shoulder with tangy slaw. Each element was precisely portioned and cooked with love.

There is a good drink selection at the bar with various options to suit everyone from Handpicked Wines, Quiet Deeds, Flying Brick Cider Co and cocktails made from Blue Duck vodka and Black Robin gin.
