Supernormal NATSU has returned in 2019 for a two-week residency from 15th - 27th January at 157 Fitzroy St, St Kilda. 2019 sees Natsu evolve to an all-vegetable menu.
Local organic growers have planted an abundance of heritage and heirloom varieties in preparation for NATSU. Think silken tofu made daily, hand-rolled udon served with cold dashi, herb-infused soy and the best vegetables from the garden.
We loved tasting our way through the Summer Selection menu which is available at $65 per head. It’s an excellent option if you struggle with indecisiveness (like us!) and prefer leaving your dining experience in the hands of the kitchen.
To start refreshing crudites whet the appetite. Rye crackers topped with avocado and tangy finger lime continue to please.
Our favourite dishes from the menu graced our presence next – Fluffy grilled flatbread served with umami-laden white miso bagna cauda. This together with the plate of refreshing mozzarella, white nectarine, capers and nasturtium is simply a thing of beauty.
To finish off the savoury courses, the tomato and chickpea curry is wonderfully indulgent and served with flaky Lune ‘roti’. Just yum.
On the dessert front - fromage blanc sorbet with crystallised herbs and olive oil finish the menu off on a sweet note.
