Damon Bradley

An enchanting new dessert bar has opened at Southgate Melbourne

The dessert bar is named after a mysterious raconteur named Damon Bradley. Owner Eileen Galea stumbled across a journal during her travels through England which were full of letters from a man named Damon Bradley who told of his love of travel, Frank Sinatra and most of all his love of dessert. Captivated and inspired, Eileen's dream to create a classic dessert bar came to life.

Patrons are greeted by brilliant violet doors with the cursive initials of Damon Bradley which accent a light interior with splashes of colour. The ambience evokes a sweet and whimsical tone throughout the venue which is complemented by washed oak flooring. The decorative mouldings on the walls, the suspended pendants and Carrara marble bench tops work together to create a lavish environment for a decadent feast.

Damon Bradley’s 20-page menu includes an extensive list of indulgent desserts paired with wines and stickies. Desserts by the glass, waffles, crepes, stewed fruits, fondues and sharing plates also feature matching wines.

There are also fridges full of speciality chocolates, pastries and cakes, Sundaes for the Young at Heart and a children’s menu. The drinks list includes milkshakes, ice cream sodas, iced drinks, Belgium Covertures, dessert martinis and plenty of teas and coffees.

Highlights of the High Tea Selection Menu include a fanciful Bradley Bear High Tea for the kids and the pink-themed Truly Scrumptious High Tea, predicted to be a hit with young and old. Dedicated to Damon Bradley’s long lost love is Ellie’s Rose Tea, with rose tea, scones and raspberry lamington.

We enjoyed everything we tasted.

The banana and caramel waffles were perfectly made - crisp and well-browned on the outside with a moist, light, airy and fluffy inside. They were the perfect canvas for the gooey caramel sauce and decadent Vanilla ice cream. The sliced banana provided a touch of freshness while the crushed nuts provided a wonderful textural element to the dish.

Our dessert experience continued with crepes served with Brandied Apricots (for adults only!). Expertly prepared, the crepes were beautifully thin and had the perfect level of sweetness, courtesy of the luxurious and heady brandy sauce.

Last but certainly not least, the elegantly divine slow roasted pears and white chocolate cheesecake graced our presence. A white chocolate, honey and vanilla cheesecake served with slow cooked oven roasted pears and double cream. Truly indulgent.

From a dream that had it’s beginning when Eileen grew up helping out in her mother’s chocolateria to a wonderfully decadent destination, Damon Bradley is perfect for indulging in all your sweet tooth fantasies. From specialty high teas, intimate late night dates to breakfast on the run.
