Hellenic Republic is celebrating 10 years at its Brunswick store with a special masa menu which will be available throughout November across all Hellenic Republic locations.
The 10th birthday masa menu features 10 of Hellenic Republic’s most iconic dishes from the last 10 years - a banquet style menu with a vast range of dishes which includes a selection of small tastes, meats and dessert. There is also the option to have your courses paired with beverages (which we highly recommend).
Known for offering Hellenic hospitality, Hellenic Republic’s venues’ designs are inspired by its local history and Greek culture which is intimately connected to the sea; a connection that is celebrated in the colours and textures of the restaurants. The result is a vibrant and welcoming ambience perfect for wining and dining with the people you love.
The 10th birthday feast begins with a range of small dishes including warm pita bread served with beautiful Taramosalata (or in our case, we couldn’t resist opting for the highly addictive Hummus), Pipperies, Stavros peppers and our personal favourite the Kefalograviera Saganaki. The Kefalograviera Saganaki is one of Hellenic Republic’s signature dishes and understandably so. The marriage of salty pan-seared Kefalograviera, a robust sheep milk cheese originating from Greece, with sweet caramelised figs was an unbeatable combination. With the added textural kick from the chewiness of the cheese, this dish was an absolutely moreish appetiser.
The Ortikia (grilled quail) graced our presence next. The quail was prepared with precision - medium pink, juicy and tender on the inside and crisp on the outside. The skilfully prepared quail paired beautifully with the earthy and refreshing beetroot tzatziki.
The Garithes, grilled prawns marinated with taramosalata butter was similarly delicious as was the fkaly Spanakopita pie pastry stuffed with wild greens and feta.
These well formulated dishes of bold flavour combinations showcased the culinary potential of Greek cuisine.
For mains the Lamb shoulder was a stunner - very well-seasoned and extremely tender - the charred meat intertwined with thin layers of melt-in-your-mouth fat were particularly enjoyable. The Sheftalies (Cypriot sausages) were again, delicious and amazingly rich in flavour.
We loved the accompanying Cypriot grain salad which combined grains, pulses, nuts, herbs, sweet raisins and pomegranate with creamy Greek yoghurt and almond slivers to flavour and transform a seemingly dreary mix of puy lentils and freekeh grains. The salad was a medley of exciting flavours and textures which would appeal to even the most carnivorous individuals.
Our meal ended on a deliciously sweet note with the Ekmek kataifi (pagota) which is a twist on a not so well known Greek dessert. Mastic infused ice cream is paired with crispy baked kataifi pastry cannoli stuffed with whipped semolina custard and sour cherry visino. Simply delicious!
With a vivacious yet homely atmosphere, Hellenic Republic is the ideal place to enjoy a meal in the company of friends and family. If you love being spoiled with deliciousness this special masa menu is a great excuse to be treated to a variety of quality food presented in generous quantities for a very reasonable price.
