Nobu, Bangkok

Bangkok’s dining scene has just reached new heights — literally. Perched on the 57th and 58th floors, crowned by a helipad-turned-rooftop bar atop The Empire, Nobu Bangkok is the world’s highest Nobu, fusing Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s world-renowned contemporary Japanese cuisine with a touch of tropical Peruvian flair. This three-level dining destination is more than a restaurant; it’s an experience that begins in the clouds and ends in culinary bliss.

Start the Night at The Exclusive Nobu Rooftop Bar

If there’s one way to make an entrance into Bangkok’s newest fine dining jewel, it’s with a sunset toast 239 metres above the city. The Exclusive Nobu Rooftop Bar offers a rare 360-degree panorama over Thailand’s capital, from golden-lit skyscrapers to the winding Chao Phraya River below.

Arrive just before sunset to watch the city shift from day to night — the skyline glowing in fiery pinks and deep ambers before the neon lights take over. With a menu of light bites and rooftop-exclusive cocktails, the scene is set for a memorable evening.

Two standout creations demand attention:

  • Javagròni – A moody, sophisticated twist on the classic Negroni, blending Bumbu XO, Campari, Carpano Antica Formula, Kahlúa, chocolate bitters and coconut oil.

  • Isle of Mellow – A tropical dream in a glass, combining Bumbu Original, coconut rum, coconut water, coconut milk, citrus, Thai jasmine rice, mango sticky rice, pineapple cordial and sparkling wine.

Sipping these creations as the sun dips below the horizon is an experience worth travelling for.

The Omakase Journey

Once the night sky takes over, it’s time to descend into Nobu’s elegant dining rooms for the omakase — a chef-curated journey through the restaurant’s most iconic dishes. Paired with Ginjo Nigori sake from the Hokusetso range — unfiltered, dry, and creamy — each course unfolds with precision and artistry.

We began with Yellowtail Jalapeño, a Nobu signature that perfectly balances delicate fish with the kick of fresh chilli. The Slipper Lobster Tempura Creamy Spicy followed — crisp, golden, and indulgently rich. The legendary Black Cod Miso arrived next, its buttery flesh flaking apart with every bite, while the Toban Yaki showcased tender slices of beef sizzling in aromatic sauce.

A selection of sushi maki offered a refreshing interlude before dessert took centre stage: the Japanese Strawberry Cake, layered with white chocolate almond and paired with strawberry ice cream, and the playful Chocolate Bento Box, hiding a molten chocolate fondant alongside vibrant green tea ice cream.

Between its soaring location, impeccable service, and the seamless marriage of Japanese finesse with Thai warmth, Nobu Bangkok is more than just another luxury restaurant — it’s an essential stop for gourmands visiting the city. Whether you’re here for cocktails in the sky, an indulgent omakase, or both, you’ll leave with the feeling you’ve dined at one of the most spectacular tables in the world.
