Located in the bustling heart of Lygon Street Carlton, Shinbashi Yakiniku offers a unique Japanese barbeque experience. Fresh seafood and local meat dishes are grilled in a charocoal pit right in front of you and to your liking.
On this tasting evening, we started wih some well seasoned edamame, and a sashimi set to share amongst the group. These were a great way to whet the appetite before the main event which was the grilled meats. We were served Wagyu meats which included the short rib 9+, harami , and premium oyster blade. The marbling on the meats were clear to see and cooked tenderly just to the medium rare state we like. To accompany these meats, there were an assortment of dipping sauces, and sides dishes consisting of butter cheese sweet potato and cold udon noodles servied with a raw egg yolk to provide a creaminess to the dish. Next up were some fresh and generous sized prawns which were also cooked on the grill keeping the juiciness within the prawn.
