Silverlake Social

Named after a neighbourhood in Los Angeles, Silverlake Social offers a menu that celebrates the all-American taphouse with Yankie-inspired craft beers, cocktails and comfort food.

Owners Byron Barrowclough and brothers Thomas and Nicholas Welch (who also own The White Oaks Saloon) have a real love for American style food and this is clearly reflected at Silverlake Social. The menu boasts items such Silverlake Dog, Buffalo chicken wings and Apple Bourbon pulled pork mini.

On the drinks front, ten taps and 20 brews by the bottle ensure there is something for everyone. There is also a good and concise wine list if you are so inclined.

We started with the Totchos, a nostalgic dish of tater tots flavoured with salsa picante, luxurious guacamole, chipotle sour cream and freshly cut jalapenos, an absolute cracker which brought back a whole lot of childhood memories.

The "Sweet hot baby back ribs" were as their name suggests, sweet and hot! We loved that each morsel was tender, falling off the bone, juicy and packed with flavour.

For mains, the good ol' strip steak hit the spot - Juicy dry rubbed steak is served with your choice of either bourbon BBQ or Jalapeno BBQ sauce and a serve of crunchy chips.

Vegetarians are also well looked after with the mushroom and black bean burrito. Think earthy, perfectly cooked Portobello mushrooms all wrapped up in a hand-pressed tortilla alongside fluffy rice, black beans, guacamole and chipotle sour cream.

If you have a sweet tooth, do not leave without trying the red velvet cheesecake. As delicious as it is striking to look at, this is one guiltily rich and beautifully velvety cheesecake that will conclude your dining experience at Silverlake Social on a sweet note.

If you love a good taphouse and a menu that revels the flavours of America and Tex-Mex comfort food, you'll love Silverlake Social.
