The Long Paddock delights with exquisite country style food and delicious sweet treats all of which favour the abundance of locally grown produce in East Gippsland.
Everything is prepared with the utmost care and love and the result is food that is truly gratifying.
To start, cured salmon tart - melt in your mouth, Caraway butter pastry is filled with potato, leek and gruyere béchamel before being topped with house cured salmon, sour cream and fennel. The pan fried gnocchi was similarly delicious. Think pillow soft gnocchi tossed with mushrooms. For the main affair, we could not go past the Gippsland lamb shank. A hearty dish served with parmesan polenta, gremolata and roasted root vegetables. It was comfort food at its best.
For something lighter we recommend the grain salad. You can certainly make friends with salad at The Long Paddock – think grains interwoven with roast cauliflower, nuts, seeds, herbs, currants and Persian feta. It was a stunning amalgamation of flavours and textures.
Dessert time continued to please at The Long Paddock. The Ginger pudding with quince ice cream was simply divine.
