Yang 89

Yang 89 stands out from the crowd. Unlike ordinary Korean barbecue restaurants, these guys specialise in lamb dishes. The lamb here is excellent, courtesy of having been wet-aged for an optimum period of 89 hours. You can expect all their meat to be sourced locally so you can expect everything to taste exceedingly fresh.

Yang 89 is perhaps most famous for its skewers. We loved the self-rotating skewers and the excellent choices on offer. As expected, the lamb skewers were a stand out.

For mains, the Lamb French Rack was excellent. Beautifully marinated, the lamb was cooked to our liking before our eyes and tasting incredibly flavoursome. The preparation and aging meant that the gamey flavour often associated with lamb had disappeared.

The twice cooked honey lamb spare ribs were yet another highlight - tender, falling off the bone, juicy and packed with flavour.

Although lamb is the hero at Yang 89, there is so much more to love about this place. Other top picks include the dish of clams on fire as well as the addictive crispy sweet corn. The clams were incredibly moreish with just the perfect hint of chilli. The dish of corn on the other hand was one that could have easily been served as a dessert – think chewy fried balls of corn laced with condensed milk and a sprinkling of mint. Just yum!
