Isabella's at Rochford Winery

Just an hour from Melbourne, nestled among the rolling vines of the Yarra Valley, Rochford Winery’s Isabella’s Restaurant offers a cosy winter escape. As the chill sets in, the warmth of the open fire and the lure of hearty seasonal dishes make this an enticing destination for a leisurely lunch.

Rochford is renowned for its award-winning cool-climate wines, particularly its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Shiraz, which reflect the region’s unique terroir. The winery is celebrated for producing premium wines across three distinct labels—Rochford, Estate, and Single Vineyard—using grapes from its family-owned Romsey Park and Isabella’s vineyards.

Executive Chef Ramiz Shaikh and his team have crafted a new winter menu that celebrates the region’s local produce. Familiar favourites return, like the 16-hour slow-cooked beef shoulder served with basil pesto, roasted almond, pepita seed, raisins, pumpkin and grain salad, smoked yoghurt and jus—a dish that perfectly embodies rustic comfort. The confit Aylesbury duck leg also promises to satisfy, paired with roasted Sebago duck fat and rosemary potatoes, and a fresh fennel salad dressed with orange.

Entrees set the scene with generous, flavourful combinations. Slow cooked pork belly arrives with saffron glazed fennel and pickled mustard pear, while the pressed breast of lamb, wrapped in vine leaves, is accompanied by Mediterranean grilled vegetables and a hint of pickled chilli.

For those craving seafood, the barramundi served with saffron labneh, baked vegetables and fried capers is a highlight.

And for a sweet finale, desserts offer equal warmth and indulgence. The blood orange tart is balanced with vanilla mascarpone and freeze-dried berries, while the chocolate cake is rich with mascarpone, glazed cherry, coconut caramel sauce and honeycomb. The coconut tapioca with golden sultanas, slivered almonds, dried fruits and glazed cherry rounds out the menu with a lighter touch.
