Doncaster favourite, The Fish & Burger Co has recently reopened with an expanded venue complete with a new gelato and shake bar, and an exciting new menu.
Designed by Studio Equator, the venue has doubled in space and showcases artwork by street-artist @dem189. The vast space does not come at the expense of warmth thanks to the mix of warm earthy tones alongside splashes of lush greenery.
On the drinks front expect to find their own Craft Lager, Pale Ale and Apple Cider brewed and bottled in Victoria. They take coffee seriously too – caffeine seekers will be pleased by Toby’s Estate coffee poured by adept baristas.
We loved experiencing the new space and menu which heroes locally sourced seafood. The seafood was exceedingly fresh and cooked to perfection. We loved how wholesome everything tasted. Nothing tasted greasy or artificial. The grilled salt and lemon pepper calamari was of particular note. These tender ribbons were full of flavour and were a crowd pleaser which had us fighting over the last morsel.
Far from being mere side dishes, denied due love and attention, The Fish & Burger Co’s sides similarly impressed. Think crispy handmade potato cakes individually deep fried to perfection to achieve a crunchy golden skin and a fluffy centre. These babies alone are worth a return visit.
There is also a great range of options for health fiends. Our top pick is the
quinoa, pumpkin and pomegranate salad which is an exciting amalgamation of black rice, pumpkin, herbs, cranberries, nuts, onion, pomegranate and fetta.
Whatever you do, make sure you leave some room for dessert. The new gelato and shake bar is not to be missed. Featuring mostly gluten-free gelatos and all vegan sorbets, they are simply a great way to end your visit to The Fish & Burger Co.
