Blackbird Melbourne
/

One of Brisbane’s most celebrated dining destinations has spread its wings south, with Blackbird Melbourne now open on Flinders Lane. The multi-award-winning restaurant, bar, and events space brings its signature sophistication to the city, offering a three-level experience that blends an intimate cocktail bar, refined dining rooms, and premium private event spaces.
Helmed by Ghanem Group Executive Chef Jake Nicolson alongside Melbourne Executive Chef Tim Menger, the kitchen champions the best of Victorian and Queensland produce. The result is a menu that moves seamlessly between innovation and indulgence, with each plate carefully crafted to showcase seasonal ingredients and modern technique.
Highlights begin with the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, a delicate yet bold composition paired with Jerusalem artichoke, green tomatoes, and sunflower seed dukka for texture and lift. For something richer, the Buttered Prawn & Pumpkin Gnocchi delivers comfort and elegance in equal measure, finished with a ginger and pumpkin beurre blanc that lingers on the palate.
From the grill, the Sher Wagyu Eye of Rump (220g, MBS 9+, VIC) is a clear standout—deeply marbled, expertly cooked, and a celebration of Australia’s premium beef. Equally compelling is the Wood Smoked Alsbury Duck Breast, served with Tokyo turnips, kohlrabi, parsnip purée, and caramelised radicchio, all tied together with a smoky bacon and maple jus.
Side dishes shine in their own right, none more so than the decadent Cauliflower Mac & Cheese, reimagined with black truffle, cauliflower, and molten tallegio. And for the grand finale, the White Coconut Lamington redefines a national classic, elevated with red fruits, rosella jam, and raspberry ripple ice cream.
With its layered design, impeccable service, and menus that strike a balance between refinement and warmth, Blackbird Melbourne is more than just an extension of its Brisbane sibling—it’s a new chapter in Flinders Lane dining.
